# ORBITALIA — Sources and credits

Created by Kateryna Mishchuk. Planet surfaces, lighting, atmospheric effects, rotation speeds and scene spacing are illustrative. The sky calculations use the selected location and time; weather and local obstructions are not included.

## Planet maps and sky imagery

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars and Jupiter surface maps, Earth's cloud and night-light maps, the Moon map and Saturn's ring texture: **Solar System Scope / INOVE**, [Solar System Scope textures](https://www.solarsystemscope.com/textures/), [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Some maps were retrieved through the [Simple Space Data mirror](https://www.simplespacedata.org/). Maps are projected onto meshes with authored lighting; the Earth night map is masked to illuminate the night side. These are artistic texture maps rather than current spacecraft observations.

Sky panorama: **ESO/S. Brunier**, [The Milky Way panorama, eso0932a](https://www.eso.org/public/images/eso0932a/), [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Resized, WebP encoded, reprojected to the selected observer's sky and vignetted. Exposure is illustrative; object positions are calculated separately.

Saturn, Uranus and Neptune atmospheric maps are generated artistic interpretations made with OpenAI image generation. They are not spacecraft photographs or measured current weather. ## Astronomy and location data

**Astronomy Engine**, Don Cross: [source](https://github.com/cosinekitty/astronomy), [MIT licence](./vendor/ASTRONOMY-LICENSE.txt). Provides topocentric planetary positions, Moon phase and coordinate transformations.

**D3-Celestial**, Olaf Frohn: [source](https://github.com/ofrohn/d3-celestial), [BSD 3-Clause licence](./vendor/CELESTIAL-LICENSE.txt). Supplies star positions, names and constellation geometry; its catalogue credits XHIP (Anderson & Francis 2012, VizieR V/137D). ORBITALIA retains 1,627 stars of magnitude 5 or brighter and 89 chart regions for the 88 IAU constellations (Serpens has two regions). Coordinates are transformed from J2000. Star portraits are illustrative points of light, not resolved stellar surfaces.

## Artwork and audio

The lunar landscape was generated with Magnific / Recraft. The postcard astronaut, Earth horizon, deep-space backdrop, forest horizon, solar texture and rocket are generated artwork made with OpenAI image generation. The creator portrait is edited artwork based on her supplied photograph. These are artistic interpretations, not mission footage or actual local terrain.

Astronaut motion: generated with Magnific / Seedance, background removed and optimized into a transparent video loop. Rocket exhaust, constellation lettering, stars, charts and interactions are authored browser graphics. Drawings remain on the visitor's device unless exported or shared.

**Quiet Between Worlds**: instrumental generated in the creator's Suno account. Primary-button and rocket ignition sounds: Magnific / ElevenLabs sound generation. Planet and secondary-button tones are authored local audio.
